Jane Patterson

My interest in art began as a child.  I grew up in Bellevue, IA, a small charming Mississippi River town where I took my first formal class in oil painting.  I was hooked!  I have taken several classes through the years but am basically self-taught.  My favorite subject matters deal with nature and rural settings.  Since my beginnings in oil, I have branched out with different mediums, acrylic, pastel, pencil and watercolor.  I have also been commissioned to paint wall murals in homes and businesses.  In 1989, my husband was transferred to Crystal City, MO and I started work at the Festus Library where I was employed until retirement in 2011.  I am a charter member of the Jefferson County Art Guild which was formed in 1999 and have received numerous ribbons and awards through the years and was chosen "Artist of the Year" in 2008 and 2012.
